Tips and Advice
Welcome to Breastfeeding Experiences!
We all know how demanding breastfeeding can be. After all, we as mothers are solely responsible for the nourishment of our babies from the moment they are born until they are old enough to eat solid food. This is why advice from other mothers who have been through the process themselves can be an invaluable resource.
If you have any advice or tips you think might be useful to other breastfeeding women, please use this form to share it with us.

Title: Breastfeeding Bliss!
Story: "It takes a little time,
sometime, to turn
the Titanic around"
Amy Grant
Women who breastfeed for a lifetime total of two years have
40% less incidence of breast cancer.
Women who have been breastfed as infants have a
26% less breast cancer incidence than women who
were not breastfed.
When I put my firstborn daughter to my breast
23 years ago I had no idea I was reducing my
chance of dying from breast cancer the way
my mother did when I was just thirteen years.
Nor did I know that I was automatically
reducing my own daughter's chance of
growing up to die from breast cancer.
What I DID know is that both my daughter
and me were in a state of bliss at all times,
as she nursed peacefully then fell asleep in
our sling.
Today my daughter prepares to breastfeed
the daughter growing in her belly, and our
family happily celebrates the percentage of
breast cancer risk dropping further with
each generation of breastfeeding moms and
breastfed daughters.
The cure is in prevention

Title: Advice
Story: My advice for breastfeeders would be not to listen to any advice. Everyone always thinks they know better but only you know your baby. Feed your baby in the way that makes you and them happy. Everything else will only make you feel bad.

Title: Advice
Story: Breastfeeding is really hard at times but you have to keep patting yourself on the back. Keep looking at your baby and reminding yourself that it's you who is keeping him or her alive. That's probably the most incredible thing you'll ever do in your life.

Title: Advice
Story: The best bit of advice I got was from my mum. She told me to stop looking around while I was feeding my son and thinking of all the other stuff I could be doing with the time. They grow up so quickly you have to enjoy the special time you have feeding.

Title: Some Tips
Story: At first breastfeeding can feed really lonely, but that will pass. I thought I would be shut away feeding for the rest of my life when my daughter was newborn as she seemed to always be hungry. As time passed, though, that changed, and now I actually miss those times when it was just us in the middle of the night. I also never thought I'd get used to doing it in public, but in the end, I just had to get over it. It was either that or never leave the house again! Besides, my baby didn't understand embarrassment, only that she was hungry!
